Handling Of Biomedical Waste Florida

By Lucille Lamb

Medical care is an essential element in human being life. In situation where the wastes from this medical procedures are not disposed well a harmful environment is created. Research on biomedical waste Florida reveals that the wastes consists of solid, liquids, sharps, and laboratory wastes that are potentially infectious.

These wastes can range from human tissues or animal tissues from the laboratories to the instruments and equipments that come into contact with human body tissues. These wastes might be containing potential diseases causing microbes including virus causing AIDS and Hepatitis. The sharp instruments including the sharp needled and medicine bottles can cause dangerous cuts that can easily acquire infection.

Improper disposal of wastes to the surrounding does not only cause danger to human being but also the animals. Decomposition of these wastes causes a danger to the flying organisms. In addition, mixing these wastes with the organic wastes in the environment is taxing because large amount of money is required. This is because, the infected wastes become larger and therefore the chemical needed to disinfect the output is also more.

The public should be educated on the needs to consider some preventive measures which will help in maintaining a good health in case of emergence of these and related output. Hand washing and entire cleaning of the body after handling them must be a routine to everybody life. Cleanliness ensures that there is no contamination that may cause infection to human being.

The health department manages the process of production, storage, transportation and some of the disinfection on the biological wastes. The wastes produced should be stored only for duration of thirty days from the time it is placed into the disposal containers. Any extra time needed to store the waste beyond the thirty days should be paid for and a permit issued.

The containers that are used in the storage and transportation of the wastes should be puncture and breakage resistance. Packing is done by trained individuals who are registered by the department and know and not any staff in the organization. The containers are then packed and sealed in another packaging. A label is that attached to the container with the international medical symbol and should have the words health output written of it.

During the criteria of disposing the resulting output, measures are put in place in order to prevent the public from sources of contamination. Department of environment protection ensures that waste disposal rules are adhered to by clearly outlining on the areas where the output should be put. The department therefore takes the overall role of managing the disinfection and disposal of these wastes.

At the same time, the wastes need some transportation to the disposal areas. Before being transported, they are usually packed properly into tightly lidded containers that are labeled with international medical output symbol. Management of biomedical waste Florida is a procedure that involves both the department of health and environmental protection that dispose these wastes.
